APRS4R Debian/Ubuntu? installation

The installation procedure is splitted into two parts. At first the ruby runtime system and additional ruby modules have to installed. Afterwards the APRS4R software can be installed.

Ruby Software Installation

Following Ruby packages have to instaled:

  • ruby1.8, ruby1.8-dev
  • liblog4r-ruby1.8
  • libserialport-ruby1.8

To install required packages, please use following commands on the router console.

apt-get update
apt-get install ruby1.8 ruby1.8-dev
apt-get install liblog4r-ruby1.8
apt-get install libserialport-ruby1.8

APRS4R Software Installation

At this time, no APRS4R packages for Debian/Ubuntu? exists, you can see the status in ticket #167.

To install APRS4R software, you have to setup a new Debian package repository. A package repository is a website, which can be used by the Debian/Ubuntu? packet management to install and update software.

Please append following lines in the file /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb stable/

Please use following commands to install the APRS4R software.

apt-get update
apt-get install aprs4r
apt-get install aprs4r-web
apt-get install aprs4web
